A Vision Born from Insight
Josef Glöckl, a German nuclear engineer, founded Aeris after seeing a common problem: his wife, a physiotherapist, noticed that her patients’ back pain improved after therapy — but would return after long office days on static chairs. Inspired, Josef set out to rethink sitting itself. Over five years of research, prototyping, and testing, he developed the Aeris Swopper, the world’s first 3D active-sitting chair, designed to move with the body in every direction.

We sit too much and don’t move enough. This is detrimental to our health. The lack of activity robs us of our concentration, energy and creativity. Modern lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, back pain and many others are caused by this lack of exercise.
Our mission.
At Aeris it is our mission to ensure that people can enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle with our products. We create movement exactly where it is least expected but needed the most – when sitting. Why movement is important?
Riding a bike, jogging or regularly going to the gym are all important and the right steps to take. However, they are a drop in the ocean if you take into consideration the fact that we spend most of our days in relative immobility, moving from one form of sitting to another. This is why we have created products to enable you to remain active while seated – no effort required. Promise.
Our sustainability approach.
We are firmly opposed to fast-furniture and a throwaway consumer society. All of our products are handmade in Germany to ensure that our products last. The high quality and long service life of our products can be confirmed by our customers who have sat and worked on our Aeris Swoppers for over 20 years.
